Arizona birding - Day 5 at Cave Creek Canyon and Cave Creek Ranch

Day 5 of the trip was spent at Cave Creek Canyon and the Cave Creek Ranch.

First I went to Cave Creek Canyon and spent few hours hiking the trail here. We were told there were Northern Pygmy Owls near the parking lot. I spent quite sometime looking for the owls but they were no where to be found. After this headed walking towards the trail. There was a Elegant Trogon reported on this trail. I was hoping to see the bird again. The trail walk was good with lot of bird sightings. I saw Townsend's Warbler and Black-throated Grey Warbler. The other birds I saw here are Cassin's and Plumbeous Vireo. I had no luck seeing the Trogon as well but the Trek was really good. The other birds I saw near and on the way to the trek are Dark-eyed Junco, Hairy Woodpecker, Grace's Warbler and Painted Redstart.

One of the very places where you could see Mexican Chickadee was close by called Rustler Park. It was quite a bit of drive but it was worth it. I saw some Stellar's Jay, Dark-eyed Junco here. But the highlights were Oliver Warbler and couple of Mexican Chickadee's.

The best place to see Blue-throated Mountain Gem around was in Cave Creek Ranch. These birds come to the feeders here. I also saw Canyon's Wren, Towhee's and other Hummingbirds here.
